In anticipation of the cool, wet weather coming for fall, we have some new and noteworthy things to look forward to here at Lloyd Martin. Take a moment to get caught up on things to try and what’s coming soon from the bar and kitchen:
Meat: Lamb is coming down the line, and you had best get some while it’s here! We are sourcing our lamb from Aspen Hollow Sheep Station in Redmond. The sheep are raised just miles outside of the City of Seattle, and they are 100 percent organic meat. Aspen Hollow sheep are actually the only prime producers of lamb on the West Coast. We are getting only a limited shipment of lamb from them, however, which means that you’ll want to get in to enjoy it while you can!
We plan to put rotating dishes with the different cuts of meat on the menu as long as they last. There will be a kick-off lamb dinner when we get our shipment, which will most likely happen in late October or early November, so stay tuned for details!
Produce: We still have lots of great local produce coming in! Most of ours is currently sourced from The King’s Garden in Carlton, Washington. Right now, we have some beautiful heirloom tomatoes, delicious summer squash, garlic, and other great end-of-summer and early fall produce from them. We have white and burgundy truffles coming in soon, and a few more items before we’ll switch to winter sourcing.
Drink: Good food is made even better with excellent beverages, and we make a special effort at Lloyd Martin to have good pairing options with wine and beer. In addition to an extensive wine list (and several bottles not on the list), we have a small selection of wonderful American and international beers. Sometimes beer is better than wine for pairing with some menu items, like with the Albacore Crudo – it pairs so well with the Hitachino White Ale. There’s a delicious Hofbrauhaus Original Lager on tap that is simply a must-try.
New on the wine and bubbly side is the Pierre Peters NV Blanc de Blancs Champagne – it’s simply beautiful! We have three other sparkling wines on the list, and two of them can be enjoyed by the glass as well as by the bottle.
If you want to enjoy one of our favorite white wines, we recommend:
- Domaine de Marce 2010 Touraine
- Elemental Cellars 2011 Auxerrois
- Lobo Hills 2012 PGR
- Kuenhof 2005 Sylvaner
Some notable reds on the wine list include:
- Lachini Vineyards 2008 ‘Giselle’
- Turley 2011 El Porrón Cinsault
- Ott & Murphy 2010 Grenache
- Jean Foillard 2011 ‘Cote du Py’ Crus-du-Beaujolais
- Elio Altare Dolcetto D’Alba 2011 *This one is an excellent wine if you don’t want to spend a lot, but you want a wine that tastes like the pricier ones!
- Le Salette 2007 Amarone de Valpolicella
Finally, a new and very exciting new system we have for enjoying wine is here! We’ve recently introduced the Coravin System, which allows you to enjoy wines without uncorking the bottle. Our guests can enjoy incredible wines by the glass or half bottle, wines that before could only be purchased by the bottle because of the cost. The wines can continue to age, but it gives us a lot more control because we can taste and tell when a wine is ready to enjoy. Best of all, it makes wine so much more accessible to our guests.
We look forward to serving you at Lloyd Martin very soon!
